WHO IS ANDREW?
Who is Andrew. Wow, what a question. Do you want the short or long answer?
WHAT ARE YOU INTERESTS?
I’m passionate about film, music, fashion, photography, travel, culture, food. I geek out over marvel, lord of the rings, Star Wars. This is why I enjoy the industry I’m in, it acts as a platform and window into all the creative mediums I love.
WHAT KEEPS YOU FEELING & LOOKING FRESH?
In short family, friends, diet, exercise and outlook on life. I think all these things also compliment and feed off one another, a healthy and balanced combination will have you feeling and looking fresh! I have a very sociable lifestyle so I think it’s important to dedicate time to yourself, this is why sometimes I take long to reply, I turn off from social media interactions for a few days, regardless of whether I’m still posting on instagram, I’ll take time to minimise my consumption of social media by disconnecting from it. I think it’s healthy for your soul to keep good, supportive friends and family around you who will push you to strive, but also be there when you fall. Diet and exercise is about balance. Oh and I drink a lot of bottled water and eat a lot of greek yogurt. That’s my secret.
DO YOU HAVE A CERTAIN REGIME THAT YOU FOLLOW?
Yes, which I use as more of a guideline rather than concrete rules. But essentially I treat Monday - Fridays as work days, whether I’m shooting or not. I aim to finish exercising by 8/9am on my days off, so I can spend the rest of my day pro actively working on my own personal projects and/or setting up meetings, responding to emails etc. Saturday and Sunday I’ll still get my training out of the way early so I can maximise the day and prepare for the week ahead. I’m about to begin implementing a new regime (which I’ve followed loosely in the past) where I wake up at 5am Monday - Friday regardless, in order to train and respond to emails/work DMs/Whatsapps before my official day has begun, wish me luck!
WALK US THROUGH YOUR JOURNEY AS A “NEW FACE”, TO A FACE THAT IS NOW ON THE MAINBOARD.
It’s been a rollercoaster to say the least. I got scouted just before I graduated from University, and I signed that summer. I was a new face at M+P, who’s mens board abruptly came to a close 6 months into signing, mere weeks before I’d planned to go backpacking through south east asia. I was represented by a few agencies in between but didn’t truly find my feet until I signed with Wilhelmina 3 years ago, by that point I’d matured into a Mainboard model! So a bit of a bumpy ride, I don’t think I truly experienced the highs of being a New Face model, but definitely making up for that loss as Mainboard!
MONDAY HITS; WHICH BODY PART WOULD YOU CHOOSE TO TRAIN, & WHY?
Is it cliche to say Chest? I begin every workout with wide grip pull-ups, and end every workout with leg raises and an abs blast. But I do find that Mondays is more Chest focussed, or if not then Back.
DESCRIBE YOUR PRE & POST WORKOUT FUEL ON A TYPICAL DAY OF TRAINING FOR YOU?
Because I like to get my training out of the way early, my pre gym is usually simple like porridge or cereal with diced bananas/fruit. Post depends on where I’m working, If I’m heading to a 9am shoot I’ll have a protein shake on the go and grab something light once I get to work like a tuna salad. If I’m heading home first I’ll blend bananas, peanut butter, coconut milk and protein powder to make a nice smoothie, then follow up with something like grilled salmon and broccoli.
WHAT ARE THE LAST FIVE SONGS THAT YOU HAVE LISTENED TO?
Wow what a random mix lol
Kanye West - Dark Fantasy
Anderson Paak - The Waters
Queen - Breakthru
Jon.B. - Don’t Talk
Chance The Rapper - I Might Need Security
LET’S TALK BUSINESS: WHAT ARE 3 FINANCIAL TIPS THAT YOU WOULD GIVE TO YOUR 21 YEAR OLD SELF?
Haha I wanna ask my 30 yr old self what his financial tips are to share with me right now! Perhaps they’ll differ from now.
But I think they would be;
Document everything you spend, all your incomes and outgoings.
Do some research into companies or stocks you believe in and make some investments, learn about the stock market and take interest.
Take risks, smart risks. Sometimes being safe and saving won’t get you to the level that you want to be at, you have to be willing to take a cut in your earnings and take a leap of faith towards something you believe in, in order to grow financially long term.
HOW HAVE YOU MANAGED TO SUSTAIN YOUR LIFESTYLE, THROUGH VIRTUALLY FREELANCING FOR ALL OF THESE YEARS?
I don’t know ffs, I have expensive taste. I guess I spent a long time building up my regular London clients, and put a lot of energy into keeping them. These acted as my bread and butter, all my additional jobs were a bonus. This means that I can offer my other creative passions the time and energy they need in order to see a return on them with the knowledge that I will have my bread and butter clients acting as a support.
